Mental Health Services

Approximately one in four of us will experience a mental health need at some point in our lives. When this happens having access to the right advice, support and treatment is key to help people recover as soon as possible.

Not everyone with a mental health need will require admission to hospital It is often more beneficial for someone to be supported at home.

The GHA has a multidisciplinary team of clinicians experienced in supporting and treating people with mental health needs in a range of settings. This includes GPs working in the Primary Care Centre, Counsellors, Nurses, Psychologists, Psychiatrist, Occupational Therapists and Approved Mental Health Professionals working in our Community Mental Health Team.

Support and treatment offered can include one or several the following:

  • Advice
  • Self Help Strategies and Apps
  • Counselling
  • Consultation with a Psychologist or Psychiatrist as an out-patient
  • Medication prescribed by a GP or Psychiatrist
  • Regular contact with one of our Community Nursing Team
  • Rapid response by our Crisis Team for urgent needs
  • Admission to Ocean Views Hospital for a period of Assessment and Treatment.
