Intensive Care Unit Humanised Family Pack
10 Bed Unit.
Unit layout & bed distribution:
The unit comprises 10 beds within the main core and 3 side rooms.
Capacity can be increased to a maximum of 13 beds in extreme/crisis
situation.
Admission Criteria:
All admissions should be patients requiring Intensive Care or High
Dependency as directed by the Consultant managing the case in question.
The Critical Care Unit (CCU) contains (1) Intensive Care patients under the
responsibility of the Intensivists/Anaesthetists. (2) Coronary Care patients
under the Physicians and a number of (3) High Dependency patients under
Surgeons & Physicians.
As per Intensive Care Protocol for Admissions, all patients should be
referred to the Consultant in Anaesthetics and Critical Care together with
the Senior Nurse on duty.
There are no limits on the age of patients; paediatrics in the majority of
the cases will require transfer to more specialist facilities and this will
be organised by Sponsored Patients Department, Medical Secretaries and the Consultant Paediatrician responsible.
Visiting Times
Daily: 1 visitor per patient only from 13:00 to 13:30 and 2 visitors per patient from 18:30 to 19:30. Visitors can swap every 15 minutes.
Children under 12 years of age are not allowed.
Visiting is at the discretion of the Ward Manager on duty.
