Job Summary

The Gibraltar Health Authority invites applications from suitably qualified Non-Consultant Hospital Doctors who, by virtue of their citizenship, are entitled to take up employment and who are, or will be upon employment, resident in Gibraltar.

 Gibraltar is a British Overseas Territory located at the southern tip of the Iberian Peninsula. It is easily accessible from London, Bristol, and Manchester, with flight times of just over 2 hours.

 The post is based at St. Bernard’s Hospital, a modern facility situated by the waterfront, offering stunning views of the Straits of Gibraltar and Northern Africa.

 Language: English is the official language, with Spanish widely spoken.

The Gibraltar Health Service is organised and modelled on UK NHS and follows traditions of British medical practice. Applicants must be registered with the Gibraltar Medical Registration Board or UK General Medical Council with a license to practice. There is a GMC exemption for candidates from Australia & New Zealand who are registered with their home equivalents. Non-native English speakers must have a good command of English.

 Applicants should have a wide range of experience in Emergency Medicine. ALS, ETC, ATLS, EPLS, or MIMMS is desirable. Any postgraduate qualification would be advantageous. Non-Consultant Hospital Doctors in A&E work on a full shift pattern and are responsible to the Consultant in A&E.

 The total value of salary package is up to £92,914. This is dependent on years of reckonable service as a Non-Consultant Hospital Doctor or equivalent and inclusive of an out of hours’ supplement.

This appointment will be on contract terms for a maximum period of 12 months and may be renewed conditional on satisfactory completion of the term of service and the circumstances prevailing within the department at the time.

Travel and Accommodation Information

  • Airfare: Full reimbursement for return economy flights from the UK.
  • Accommodation Allowance: A rental allowance is available exclusively to individuals on a fixed-term contract. This is subject to submission of a valid rental agreement and a Gibraltar Civilian Registration card. 

Visa Requirements for Non-EU Nationals

  • Please note that a Schengen Visa is required to transit through Europe. This must be obtained from your country of residence prior to travel. Schengen Visas cannot be issued by Gibraltar authorities.
